This is not the first time I’ve read this book, it was probably the 8th time so nor the story nor its intent were a surprise to me. This was the first book I ever read by myself, my mother always loved this book and she gave it to everyone on their birthdays, so when I finally learnt how to read she gave it to me.
I LOVE THIS BOOK AND I ALWAYS WILL.
The book presents us with a bunch of different types of adults and tries to explain us what is wrong with them versus the open innocence and imagination of childhood in a smart and thoughtful way.
It possesses a surprising amount of depth that will spark your thinking. This book has had a different meaning every single time I’ve read so I really think it depends on where your life is at the moment. Reading it as a child, a pre-teen, a teen and an adult does really make a difference on what you take with you from Saint-Exupéry’s story.
My favourite quote: “To me, you are still nothing more than a little boy who is just like a hundred thousand other little boys. And I have no need of you. And you, on your part, have no need of me. To you I am nothing more than a fox like a hundred thousand other foxes. But if you tame me, then we shall need each other. To me, you will be unique in all the world. To you, I shall be unique in all the world….”
I beg you to read this book, I really do.
