I was tagged by Naty’s Bookshelf to do this amazing tag! Thank you so so so much!
This tag is really fun, I’ll be telling you how I choose most of my books.
Hope you like it!
Find a book on your shelves or e-reader with a blue cover. What made you want to pick up this book?
There was I rumbling in BookTube, looking for a witchcraft related book because I felt in the mood for something like that when I came across A Discovery of Witches by Debora Harkness in a random video.
A few weeks later I was in fnac (it’s a book/films/music/games store if you don’t know) looking for Outlander by Diana Gabaldon when I bump into A Discovery of Witches, ended up buying both because just one wasn’t enough.
A year later here am I, currently reading Outlander and I didn’t really enjoy A Discovery of Witches. I kind of made I review on A Discovery of Witches but at the time I was half way through it and enjoying. I guess the thing with this book was that there was not that much character development and it seemed to me like it was going nowhere, nonetheless I did like the world the author created and the premise is also really cool.
Think of a book you didn’t expect to enjoy, but did. Why did you read it in the first place?
For this one I have to go with Encounter at Farpoint by David Gerrold.
I wasn’t expecting much of it because it is based on a series (Star Trek: The Next Generation), but it was a really nice read.
I read it because it was for sale in a book fair for 2.50€ and it was really small and thought I might as well buy it.
Stand in front of your bookshelf with your eyes closed and pick a book at random. How did you discover this book?
Bare Bones by Kathy Reichs!!!
You can say that I went through a huge Bones (the TV series) phase. It was almost as if it was the only thing in my life. During that time, I discovered Kathy Reichs, she wrote the books in which the series is inspired, it was heaven on earth.
Turns out, I love the book series as much as the tv series.
Pick a book that someone personally recommended to you. What did you think of it?
The Perks of Being a Wallflower! A friend of mine, Diana, was always with this book on her hands, one day I asked her what it was about and she almost forced me to read it.
NO REGRETS. Read it in two days, loved it. Will most certainly read it again.
Pick a book that you discovered through YouTube/book blogs. Did it live up to the hype?
This one is Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. A time ago this book was in the top for every Book Blogger and Book Tuber. Therefore, I decided to pick it up.
Whether it lived up to the hype or not, I can say, I’m only now currently reading it.
Find a book on your shelves or e-reader with a one-word title. What drew you to this book?
The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka!(I know it is technically two words, but I own this book in Portuguese and the title is translated to Metamorfose, which is only one word)
If you have read anything I post on this blog before, you have probably already realised that I’m a sucker for the classics. I don’t know what it is but I want to read them all. It’s not something I can explain, I own a lot of them, two out of six shelves are classics. Is it too much?
Anyway, this book is on my summer TBR, so I’ll soon get to it.
What book did you discover through a film/TV adaptation?
Girl with a Pearl Earring by Tracy Chevalier!! I had heard about this book because I had recently watched the film with my parents. I liked the film so much that I started searching more about it and discovered it was originally a book. Loved the book, as much as the film. Amazing story.
Think of your all-time favourite book(s). When did you read these and why did you pick them up in the first place?
Like I’ve said many times, my favourite book of all time is The Seventh Gate by Richard Zimler.
I read it last summer, just after the end of the school year. Picked it up because it is huge and at that moment I was in need of a book that would submerse me for longer than 3 days, it took me half a moth to read it, not because I wasn’t enjoying it but because I didn’t want it to end.
Keep on reading…
